Invited by Don Bosco Technical College, Dr. Terry O’Hanlon-Rose of APEG presented his expertise on the gaps and similarities between the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF). He worked with Don Bosco leadership, including Fr. Jun Inocencio and Dean Jennifer Silao, on competency-based education, qualification comparability and international recognition — aiming to enhance academic mobility and strengthen partnerships in technical and vocational education.
Dr. O’Hanlon-Rose’s presentation showed how understanding the differences and commonalities between the AQF and PQF can create smoother pathways for students and professionals. He highlighted the value of competency-based training in meeting industry demands and explained how this analysis would support international recognition of qualifications, easing transitions for those seeking education or careers abroad, especially in technical and vocational fields.
The exchange between APEG and Don Bosco sought to bolster cooperation in TVET, fostering a more interconnected and globally competitive workforce. By focusing on qualification comparability and international recognition, the session laid a foundation for future collaboration, expanding educational opportunities and professional mobility for people in both Australia and the Philippines.
